ThePurge2AnarchyMain Cast: Frank Grillo, Carmen Ejogo, Zach Gilford, Kiele Sanchez, Zoe Soul

Review: 7 out of 10 stars.

Surprisingly Purge 2 was a good thriller “entertained” with humor and some good screen shocker scenes.

While the first Purge took place in house as an invasion, the second one took place (more…)

Oculus (Movie)

Review: 6.5 out of 10 stars.

A movie about a possessed mirror.

The style of going back and forth between childhood and adulthood of the sibling was good, and the tagline of “you see what it wants you to see” was frightening. However, the director decided (more…)

Despicable Me 2 (Movie)

DespicableMe2Main Cast: Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt, Miranda Cosgrove, Russell Brand

Review: 9.1 out of 10 stars.

A sequel generally is hard to compete with the original since it would have already lost the novelty. But DM2 has actually leveraged very well with the surprise success from the first one. Over the past few years, the minion factor has not worn off as the creator being smart enough to keep producing smaller clips and making them available, effectively keeping the characters fresh.

And the characters in the first one was so dramatically adorable that most kids and adults yearn for the return.

In this sequel the story surrounded Gru being “retired” and was making (more…)

The Conjuring (Movie)

TheConjuringMain Cast: Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Lili Taylor, Ron Livingston

Review: 8.5 out of 10 stars.

The Conjuring can be described as a scary paranormal movie.

It’s a combination of the Exorcist and Paranormal Activity. It is based on true events about Ed and Lorraine Warren educating and trying to exorcise for a family when the priest could not do so because the family was not baptized.

For some it was just another scary movie, but it is actually made quite believable and while the “plot” is not new, the producers and writers dramatized the events just enough with the really, really loud (more…)

The Purge (Movie)

ThePurgeMain Cast: Ethan Hawke, Rhys Wakefield, Lena Headey, Max Burkholder, Adelaide Kane, Edwin Hodge

Review: 7.2 out of 10 stars.

Plot: what if 1 day a year, for 12 hours, it is legal to commit any crimes and there will be no assistance from the fire department, police or ambulance? The premise is to “purge” people,  to release that suppression inside, to keep the society in order, and to only keep those who are likable. Nightmare starts when someone is let inside a locked down house.

The concept was fresh clever and while the execution was a repeat from other movies, good (more…)

This is The End (Movie)

ThisIsTheEndMain Cast: Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Emma Watson

Review: 8.5 out of 10 stars.

Oh MM GG! What an unexpected comedy! Buckle up, because it’s gonna be a jawdropping ride!

The movie started out with Jay showing up in LA to meet his friend Seth after not being in touch for awhile and they went to James Franco’s house for a party, and an earthquake shakes not only the ground, but forever their worlds.

From Pineapple Express’s cast (no worries if you have not watched it) and many other well known actors who act as themselves, the movie started out with Pineapple Express mellow feel, then quickly turned into slapslick humour. The story stalled for a bit before taking fast, visual and (more…)
