What a story about Wing Chun master Ip, who never thought he would have to stand up and leads until after he turns 40. Having to leave his family to a safe place but were ultimately gone from him as he had no choice but was also willingly to take on the lead role. This movie has an impressive cast, even with those who don’t usually act. And most likely because it’s based on some true events (see further for fact checking link) and not just an article, acting was much more touching and real.
The film is inspired by an article about Eugene Allen (Cecil Gaines in the movie) as a poor man who found his way to work and ultimately became one of the most prestigious butlers at the White House. The Lone Ranger is better than a typical cowboy movie, with Depp being a quirky (as he’s always been that it’s close to typecast), with the earth’s only righteous lawyer. They teamed up while pursuing their own quests.
