The World’s End (Movie)

TheWorldsEndMain Cast: Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan, Martin Freeman

Review: 6.5 out of 10 stars.

This movie kind of reminds of This is the End, 5 guys experiencing apocalypse. The difference is they have a goal. 20 years ago these  5 guys got out of college and were out to hit 12 pubs before embarking a career that would ultimately be considered as successful in a typical world, yet it would also signify boredom.

The leader of the pack, Gary, after 20 years, is still the same old Gary, except he now attends AA and realizes he wants to finish all 12 pubs to “The World’s End”, the last pub, as they did not back then.

Did not watch the first two but this is a standalone movie.

The journey of them was about how everyone but Gary has changed, but slowly everyone wants to re-live that wild night, only to find out while the old town appears to be the same visually, everything has completely changed in reality.

It’s a bit of an odd ball scifi British humor here. It generates a few chuckles but nothing original. It’s a good matinee.

Keywords: british, comedy, scifi, robots

— Spoiler ahead —

The ending is terrible and unsettling. First how lame is that when the robots just decided to give up taking over these folks. They could easily do that if they were that powerful. Then Gary ultimately ditched his AA life, realizing he indeed wants to simply live in 20 years ago, forever. It was not anything enlightening or funny about it.
